Agaves
The Agave Plant is a group of over 200 Agave species in the agave genus, all hailing from the desert (or near-desert) regions of South, Central, and North America as well as the Caribbean.

Agave americans
Is an exotic variety requiring full sun shine to thrive, the more sun it receives the more pronounced the variegation of creamy yellow margins will become. Water only when soil is completely dry as prone to root rot. americans is thought to originate from the semi arid subtropical climates of North East Mexico but is also very suited to coastal areas. As with most Agaves they are virtually disease free. Watch out for those slugs though.

Originally from Texas, Mexico and the Caribbean Islands this variety of agave has now naturalised to Mediterranean areas where it grows on sandy hills and limestone soils. Their striking architectural appearance and quadricolour makes this plant an ideal choice for all types and sizes of gardens.
